Kitchen Remodeling – Why Remodel Your Kitchen
7 Reasons to Remodel Your Kitchen
- Function
You want a kitchen that works well for you and your family. The reasons are individual, but may include room for two cooks, a computer station, or a walk-in pantry. Our kitchen designers can work with you to design a kitchen that addresses your needs and complements your lifestyle. - Interaction
A newly designed kitchen can increase your interaction with others. When you open up the kitchen to other rooms, like family rooms, you won’t feel isolated when preparing meals. You can be in your kitchen and still be part of the action. A new island can be a comfortable place for late-night chats with teens. - Safety
Unfortunately, many household accidents occur in the kitchen. You can upgrade the safety of this much-used room to reduce the risks of accidents and make it as safe as possible. For example, your kitchen designer can discuss layouts with you that will lessen the risk of bumping into others with hot food or water. Countertop heights can be modified to reduce back strain. Green materials can be utilized to improve indoor air quality. - Storage and Organization
A well-designed kitchen remodel can greatly increase your storage space and ability to keep organized. More importantly, our kitchen designers can incorporate the right mix of storage solutions that are uniquely important to you and your family. - Entertaining
Many people love entertaining, but find that everyone always ends up in their too small kitchen. Sometimes the kitchen is too small and an addition will make a world of difference. Other times the kitchen is just poorly laid out and you can remodel within the existing footprint to achieve your goals. You’ll be excited to entertain and show off your beautiful new kitchen! - Resale
According to realtors, the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house to potential buyers. A beautiful kitchen can often mean the difference between a quick sale and a home that lingers on the market. Remodeling Magazine’s “2007 Cost vs. Value Report” shows that a kitchen remodel can return 86% of its cost upon resale. Meanwhile, you get to live in and enjoy a beautiful kitchen while you are there for only 14% of the cost! - Style
You enjoy beautiful things and appreciate good design and you want your kitchen to reflect that about you. Our kitchen designers can work with you to identify your style and sort through the extensive array of materials and finishes to design a kitchen that uniquely expresses you.

Running Home for Dinner
The Problem
This home had an excellent location that made the young family want to move in, but the kitchen made them want to run away. They have small children and wanted a casual place for eating and homework, in addition to a space for family dinners. The family also needed to greatly increase the storage space to accommodate everything from refrigerated items to snacks and pantry essentials. Lastly, they wanted to open up the kitchen to the other rooms in the house and make the kitchen a warm and inviting place to spend time.
The Solution
We brightened up the room with a neutral color scheme and a detailed lighting plan. We used maple cabinetry, painted in a soft cream color with an oatmeal glazing on the perimeter cabinets and cherry cabinets with a truffle stain and a walnut glaze on the island. To increase their storage space we removed an existing exterior door and a wall to create a walk-in pantry with additional cabinetry, an extra refrigerator and another sink. New hardwood floors tied the kitchen to the newly remodeled family room. Our clients are thrilled with the results and they look forward to creating many memories in their new kitchen.
