Let’s take a closer look at one of our CotY Award-winning projects. Our client, a father of two toddlers, wanted to create a bright, warm home for his children.
The existing living space was very divided and the only real play space was in the basement. Our client wanted to be able to have a place to work and still be able to watch his children play. The existing kitchen was very small and lacked storage and countertop space. The dark space was also closed off from the rest of the house and the fixtures were poorly arranged.
The Harvey team went to work creating a space that would be warm and inviting for our client and his children. A 3-season porch was absorbed into the new living space and the home’s footprint was squared off to create a new kitchen, dining and living space with room to eat, work and play all within sight-lines of each other. Even if the family is engaged in different activities, they can still be together.
The kitchen materials, finishes and fixtures were all chosen with the children in mind. For example, the design incorporated low-maintenance quartz countertops and the cabinetry was stained with a warm autumn color so when little feet are swinging at the island any marks are less noticeable.
The end result? A warm and inviting kitchen and living space where this family can grow for many years to come. To learn more about Harvey Remodeling’s design-build remodeling services, contact us today.
